It's not quite a secret but while the ever-popular Sambal Hijau nearby looks crowded and cramped, this place is often overlooked. But it's one of the best places for Kelantanese food in town, and one of the best-looking as well. The decor is simple but the layout feels refreshing with the breeze coming through, like having a meal at the verandah of a typical Malay house. There's the stray fried tempe, but it's 99% east coast mainstays, and fresh gulai kawah daily. The ulam/sayur celur (blanched vegetables) selection is impressive as well with the standard dips and sauces inc tempoyak. There's nasi kerabu and nasi dagang for breakfast and if they haven't run out you can have them for lunch. There's about a half-dozen deserts on selection daily including fresh bubur pulut hitam (glutinous rice soup) and akok (a type of eggy pancake). I've been bringing friends both with East Coast heritage and not, and it's always a hit. Standard Malay buffet serving style and Malaysian drinks list (so while I'm sure there's a menu I don't see ppl refer to any)

My lunch at the Minangkabau-style Malay restaurant was a spicy and tasty delight. The flavorful cuisine, paired with the sweet tapai pulut, offered a satisfying culinary experience. The service was efficient and friendly, enhancing the overall enjoyment. I appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I would give it four stars for the fantastic food, excellent service, and inviting ambiance, making it a memorable dining experience.

Food is good, fish is fresh and well marinated with quite a good range of varieties here BUT I think the person writing the price of total bill is ridiculous. I had rice with 1 kari kuah, 1/2 telur masin, 1 piece ikan pari bakar with limau ais. Total bill RM21, while my friend who also had same size ikan pari bakar with rice and masak lemak kuah, 1 bunch of salai vege and sirap limau ais RM16.50. How is it that the telur masin cost like RM4 more???

Highly recommended. The place is actually a branch of the crazy busy Pantai Dalam outlet. The food is identical is taste and presentation albeit slightly smaller offerings. The 3 huge plus points for this place versus the main one and Sambal Hijau down the road are: (1) It's not busy at all. You don't have to stress out getting the seating or the food. (2) By virtue of the above, it's really clean. Heck it's the cleanest Malay food outlet I've ever seen. (3) it's airy plus it's not crowded and hence not busy. You can actually lepak there after eating. Go for it.

We came around 9am and most food is already finished. I was told by people I came with that we need to come around 7.30 am to try their nasi kerabu. I was looking forward to try laksam. We ordered noodles, fish and some Kueh. I ordered Nasi Himpit and Kuah Kacang with fried chicken. Overall experience is good, this place is clean and there is separate area with air-condition. Parking is limited as you need to park by the roadside.

The food here is great, came here for simple Malaysian breakfast. Arrived at around 10am and most nasi already sold out. We had nasi lemak and roti canai. The taste of food is GREAT, especially its curry, all food is flavourful. Ordered teh aise, and it is not too sweet compared to other mamak shop. It is self service and all in Malay, so go with a local. There's a lot of local malay dishes that's attractive but didn't get to try as already full with the dishes we ordered. Will definitely be back. It's self service. It is a huge restaurant with outdoor roofed area and indoor air-conditioned room, considered a clean place compared to most local warungs or stalls. Despite no smoking law in restaurant, there is someone smoking nearby our tables which discounted the experience.
